John Cale - Sandman (Flying Dutchman)
The final track on Cale’s last album Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood. I’d say for the most part I didn’t enjoy this album (not nearly as much as the other four of his I have), but this song is a real gem.
Connie Converse - How Sad, How Lovely
The title track of a beautiful release. Old folk singer/songwriter who never made commercial success in Greenwich Village.
Brian Eno & John Cale - Spinning Away
Two great minds on the same record, unbelievably good: Wrong Way Up.
Cat Stevens - But I Might Die Tonight
Brilliant tune off of the classic Tea For the Tillerman.
Gary Sisco and Pals - If You’re Riding Next To Me
Long time pal/drummer of Michael Hurley, his solo album The End of the Trail.
The Velvet Underground - I’m Set Free
Self-titled album, great tune that’s more potent than ever given the news of Lou Reed’s death.
I’m set free to find a new illusion
